John found out that he required surgery following a severe illness. It so happened that his son was a surgeon and so he requested to have him do the surgery. The night before the surgery he asked his son to visit him in his room. “Son,” said John, ” I requested you to do this surgery not just because you are my son but because I know you are the very best at what you do. I have the utmost confidence in you and I know I am in great hands. I’m proud of you son, and it is an honor to have you do this surgery.” John and his son shared a nice moment with a big hug.

As his son turns to leave the room John says, “Son, just one more thing.” His son stops short of the door and turns around. “Just in case things don’t go according to plan tomorrow and this ends up differently than we hope, I don’t want you to worry. Your mother is planning to move in with you and your wife.”

It’s always important to know what really motivates someone to do their best!
